As part of our continued effort to raise awareness of the needs of those still living in New Orleans, as well as those in need in the greater World around us, we are asking you to take a little bit of your time, and write a post on your personal blog letting everybody know what the concept of “Healing Time” means to you.
We understand the very personal experience of blogging, and hope that your entry reflects your own personal writing or multimedia style. Make it meaningful to you and your readers, and it will mean all the more to us. Be as broad or as specific about what the concept of “Healing Time” means to you, your relationships, work, your family, your community, or the World in general.

At the bottom of this post, you’ll find a YouTube video of Josh singing Healing Time, contest rules and a submission form. Between October 15 and November 1, 2009 write a post pertaining to Healing Time, of any length, on your own personal blog. Submit your entry to us, and we’ll judge your post.
If you do not have a personal blog, what better reason to start sharing your unique thoughts and personality with others! There are a variety of places to obtain a free blog, including Blogger, WordPress, Live Journal, Thoughts, Blog, and many others. Simply fill out their online form, pick a theme and get started!
As we receive entries, we will ensure they meet our requirements (see rules) then post a link to your submission on this website. We will also share the link at a variety of social media sites, including Twitter and FaceBook. Be prepared for a number of individuals reading your post!
The top 10 submissions will be contacted, and we’ll do a runoff to see which posts to read aloud live in December, as part of Josh Charles’ live performance streamed over the Internet to further raise funds for those in need. We are also offering a prize, to be announced!

a video of yourself singing along with the karaoke version (or)
a video of yourself singing with your own musical instrument accompaniment (or)
a video of you and your band playing Healing Time
Afterwards, upload the video to YouTube. Submit your entry to us, and we’ll judge your video.
You do NOT have to play an instrument to compete in this contest! Accappela singing (without instruments) is also encouraged. We have made a karaoke version available for you to sing to!

Josh Charles was in the process of moving to the beautiful city of New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina struck. Rather than recording music as planned, he huddled with everyone else against the storm, leaving emotionally crushed on one of the last buses.
Josh wrote the song Healing Time because he will always remember the destruction, the people in so much need, trying to start their lives over in the rubble, holding each other through broken hearts and dreams. Josh left a part of himself in New Orleans, a part which still wants him to go back and record music…

Since its founding in 1974, the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans has been working with communities, developing resources, and implementing an array of programs to help preserve the architecture that makes New Orleans unique. They work diligently, to this day, in helping those still affected by Katrina, particularly in the lower 9th Ward.
All of the proceeds of the sales of the song Healing Time go to the fine work of the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans. The song is available for download from iTunes or Amazon for only 99 cents. Please download this wonderful song using the icons to the left, and/or gift it to others, especially for the upcoming Holiday season.
We also want to hear your music, your beautiful voices in this endeavor. On October 5th, we are launching the Healing Time Cover Video Contest.
